MILWAUKEE _ The Cubs' 3,600-mile trip that started two weeks ago ended Sunday with a 3-0 victory over the Brewers at Miller Park.
Left-hander Jose Quintana and three relievers combined on a three-hitter as the Cubs took three of four games from the Brewers and finished their first trip with a 5-4 record.
Ben Zobrist gave the Cubs a lift with his continued dominance of Brewers pitcher Chase Anderson by hitting a home run off the right field foul pole in the fourth inning.
Zobrist is 9-for-17 with three home runs lifetime against Anderson.
Quintana pitched six innings of three-hit ball and capped his outing by striking out Jesus Aguilar on a 75-mph curve with the tying run at first.
Albert Almora Jr. handled the leadoff duties against Chase Anderson. The Cubs' lineup didn't include Ian Happ, Javier Baez and Anthony Rizzo, who is coping with lower back stiffness.
Almora hit a double to right with two outs to score Jason Heyward in the fifth, and an error by Aguilar at first allowed Victor Caratini to score in the seventh.
The Cubs' journey started March 25 as they flew about 1,975 miles from Phoenix to Fort Myers, Fla., for two games against the Red Sox to conclude the exhibition season before taking a drive to Miami to open the regular season March 29 against the Marlins.
After the Marlins' four-game series, the Cubs flew to Cincinnati for one game and returned home late Tuesday night after their second game was rained out. They took a bus Thursday night from Wrigley Field to Milwaukee to open this series and will return after the game in preparation for Monday's home opener against the Pirates.
Despite this journey, the Cubs will travel only 24,032 miles during the regular season _ fifth fewest in the majors according to baseballsavant.com. The Mariners are expected to travel a Major League-leading 40,783 miles, with the Reds flying the fewest with 20,738.
