Ben Woodburn to Hearts is done as Robbie Neilson confirms Liverpool go ahead

Ben Woodburn will soon be a Hearts player as boss Robbie Neilson revealed the club have received a long-awaited thumbs-up from Liverpool.

Jurgen Klopp's side had dragged their heels slightly over the loan deal but are now prepared to let him travel to Edinburgh to complete the move from Merseyside.

And he'll join the Premiership returnees this coming week after the Jambos were held 1-1 by Aberdeen at home.

Neilson confirmed after the match: "It’s been authorised by Liverpool.

"It is just a case of getting him up and getting him ready. I am delighted."

Liam Boyce opened the scoring from the spot before the home side were pegged back by Funso Ojo.

Despite that it was the Northern Ireland's sixth goal of the season already.

He began the campaign by stating his desire to reach the 20-goal mark, a milestone he completed twice for Ross County – and one which no Hearts striker has accomplished since John Robertson.

Neilson is delighted with his early impact and that of Beni Baningime, too, as the midfielder continues to impress since arriving from Everton.

"We knew what we were getting with Beni," Neilson added, "but I didn’t think he would be at the level he is at already.

"If you want to be top end of the league you need a goalscorer who’s going to get you 20 goals a season.

"Liam’s got six already. We just to keep him fit.”
