Ben Woodburn set for Hearts medical as Liverpool forward in Edinburgh ahead of Tynecastle switch

Hearts are set to announce a deal for Liverpool forward Ben Woodburn 'within 24 hours' as he gets set to undergo a medical in Edinburgh.

Robbie Neilson's team have been in talks with the Anfield giants over a six-month loan deal for their youngest ever goalscorer.

Woodburn, a full international with Wales, is keen on a move that could see him rediscover his early promise in the Scottish Premiership.

Jurgen Klopp was keen to keep hold of him until later in the transfer window especially as Xherdan Shaqiri gets set to join Lyon.

But Hearts have pushed to conclude the deal as early as possible and managed to convince Liverpool to release him for talks.

Neilson confirmed over the weekend that an agreement had been reached and things have progressed rapidly.

Now it's being reported by the Edinburgh Evening News that Woodburn is set to arrive in Edinburgh on Monday for a medical.

Provided all goes well, he is to be announced as a Hearts player within 24 hours - and could make his debut against Dundee United next weekend.

He will become their third new arrival of the summer after Brighton's Alex Cochrane and Everton's Beni Baningime.
