Ben Woodburn makes Liverpool return after loan agreement ends

Ben Woodburn has returned to Liverpool following the end of his loan agreement at Blackpool.

Woodburn moved to the League One side - who are managed by former Reds U23s coach Neil Critchley - in October on a temporary deal.

The 21-year-old made 11 appearances during his time at Bloomfield Road, the most recent from the bench at Hull City on Saturday, but only four were starts of which none saw him last the full 90 minutes.

Liverpool will now consider allowing Woodburn to go out on loan again in pursuit of regular first-team football.

The Wales international had initially been lined up for a temporary switch to Holland during the last transfer window only to opt to remain in England.

Woodburn has had a difficult few years having missed much of last season when on loan at Oxford United after suffering a fractured foot.

The previous campaign, he saw a season-long loan at Sheffield United cut short due to injury and a lack of playing time.

Woodburn - who became Liverpool's youngest-ever scorer in November 2016 - has made 11 appearances for Liverpool although his last was in May 2018 as a late substitute in the Premier League win over Brighton.
