Newcastle United are the latest Premier League side to express an interest in on-loan Leeds United defender Ben White following his performances for Marcelo Bielsa's side this season, our sister site Chronicle Live reports.
The 22-year-old is spending the campaign at Elland Road on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion, who face a stern battle to retain the services of the defender who is reportedly valued at around £20m by the Seagulls.
European champions Liverpool have also been attributed with an interest in the exciting defender, which leaves United's chances of signing White on a permanent basis next summer looking slimmer and slimmer.
Despite the interest in White's services, Leeds are understood not to be at risk of seeing their loan deal cut short in January, with Brighton cashing in, and he is set to see out the season fighting for promotion to the Championship.
However, given the rise in interest and a price-tag which is only likely to increase, Leeds will face a stern battle at the end of the campaign if they want to keep his services on a permanent basis.
Speaking about interest in him earlier in the season, White said: "There is attention and praise and it’s really nice to see and hear it, but I know that I just have to keep focusing on making sure I’m the best I can be every time I step out on to the field.
"People keep saying how well I’m doing but I know I have to keep my head down and continue working hard for the team to make sure we get the results we need to achieve our aim at the end of the season."
