Ben White urged to snub Leeds United transfer amid interest from Liverpool

Ben White has been urged to join Liverpool by his former boss Michael Flynn.

Leeds United are keen to bring back the Brighton and Hove Albion defender and have already seen two bids, the latter as high as £22million, rejected.

The Seagulls have been adamant that they will not sell White this summer, although his stellar season at Elland Road has attracted interest from the Premier League's biggest clubs.

It's been an incredible rise through the EFL for White, who spent last season on loan in League One with Peterborough United.

In 2017/18, White spent the season at Newport County with Flynn and his former boss, who described him as "the best loan signing the club has ever made", believes he should favour a move to Liverpool.

Having sold Dejan Lovren to Zenit St Petersburg, the Reds could be in the market for a new defender this summer.

"I’d love to see him at Liverpool. I know Pep Lijnders, the assistant, he’s an unbelievable coach," Flynn told talkSPORT 2.

“So I know he will help Ben improve. He’s got to do what’s best for Ben White. That could be getting a season in the Premier League with regular games at Brighton, which I think he could do.

“Jurgen Klopp, as a manager, gets the best out of all his players. I can just see him improving again.

“Graham Potter (Brighton manager) might want to keep him and bring him on and then sell him for more money after a year in the Premier League.

“That’s a decision for Ben, but for biased reasons, I’d be edging him towards Liverpool.

“I’m that confident of Ben that (break into first-team) I think he can force his way into any team. Let’s not forget, he’s going to have even better players around him, they’ll bring him on."
