Ben White's transfer stance clear as price tag revealed for Arsenal and Manchester Utd target

Brighton & Hove Albion are demanding £50million for the sale of Ben White this summer, according to reports.

Arsenal, as well as Liverpool and Manchester United, are reportedly keen on signing the England international - who has just been selected in Gareth Southgate's 26-man squad for Euro 2020, which begins on Friday.

Southgate lost Trent Alexander-Arnold through a thigh injury and had to replace the Liverpool full-back in his squad, and chose the extra centre-back cover with Harry Maguire's condition still uncertain.

White was the man who got the nod, and The Sun reported last month that the Gunners had joined the race with Man United to sign the 23-year-old, who was impressive throughout the 2020/21 campaign for Brighton.

And according to a fresh report from the Daily Mail, the Seagulls have slapped a £50m price tag on White this summer, with the south coast club reluctant to sell their talented defender.

However, Brighton chief executive Paul Barber recently admitted that if the "right offer" comes along for any of the club's top players, then they could be tempted to sell.

Barber said: "We know some of our best players aren't going to be with us forever and, if the right offer comes along and they want to leave, then they can go."

It looks as if White may want to leave the Amex Stadium, with the Manchester Evening News reporting the former Leeds United loanee's stance in April and explaining he would be keen on moving to Manchester United should an offer come along.

As well as this, United have been tracking the England defender as one of their central defensive targets, as well as Pau Torres and Raphael Varane.

Arsenal are set for a big squad overhaul this summer, as football.london understands that Mikel Arteta is keen on bringing in at least five new players - all in different positions.

David Luiz has announced his departure upon the expiry of his Gunners contract, meaning Arteta and Edu are tasked with bringing in another centre-back to replace the Brazilian.

White could indeed be someone Arteta turns to, with the Brighton defender very comfortable on the ball and has also shown his versatility in the past, playing occasionally as the deepest midfielder.

But with Man United and Liverpool both able to offer White Champions League football next season, it could be an uphill challenge for Arsenal to lure him to the Emirates Stadium - given their failure to qualify for European competition next season.

As it stands, Arteta has Gabriel Magalhaes, Rob Holding, Calum Chambers, Pablo Mari and the returning William Saliba as his options at centre-half.
