Arsenal defender Ben White has named Sergio Ramos in his top three favourite players of all time and has said he wants to emulate his career.
Although he struggled on debut against Brentford in August, White has enjoyed a successful start to his career at the Emirates, helping to keep three clean sheets in the Premier League from just five appearances.
The Gunners’ £50million signing has formed a healthy centre-back partnership with Brazilian defender Gabriel Magalhaes, and with fellow new signings Aaron Ramsdale and Takehiro Tomiyasu joining the club’s new back five, Arsenal fans think they may have found a more than capable defence for the first time in years.
White unfortunately wasn’t selected by England for the upcoming international fixtures with Andorra and Hungary, and during his break he has commented on who his favourite players of all time are.
One of his favourites is Real Madrid legend, Ramos, and White has said he wants to achieve things like the Spaniard has in the game.
“For me, in my position, I think, Sergio Ramos is unbelievable,” he told the club’s official website.
“The goals he’s scored over the years, and the standards that he’s kept throughout the years that he’s been playing is unbelievable and something that I would like to achieve.”
White continued by explaining that he also admires Liverpool legend, Steven Gerrard, as well as Ramos’ former teammate and five-time Ballon d’Or winner, Cristiano Ronaldo.
“Gerrard. I think as a Liverpool man, he stayed there his whole career and did unbelievably well.
“Ronaldo. Obviously seeing the stats that he’s produced over the years he’s been playing and the hard work he puts in every day and the quality that he keeps producing every day.”
White is by no means expected to get to the levels Ramos has set, but he does have the potential to achieve big things in north London.
