Ben White makes 'terrible' Liverpool admission and discusses Arsenal red card

Ben White has highlighted how 'terrible' it was to defend against Liverpool for over an hour as the Gunners were reduced to 10 men when Granit Xhaka saw red.

The Switzerland international was given a red card in the first half for a reckless kick on Diogo Jota in the first half, putting his side under immense pressure.

Liverpool registered just one shot on target in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final at Anfield as they were held to a goalless draw.

All is to play for in the next Thursday's second leg in North London, but Liverpool will need to up their game if they are to reach the Wembley final.

"It’s not ideal is it. There is so much fight in this team and it showed today," White said post-match.

"We dug deep and got the result that we needed."

White was asked whether he thought it was a red card: "I don’t know, he’s looking at the ball and he doesn’t know where the man is but it is what it is and the boys done well today."

White and the Arsenal team were visibly exhausted at the final whistle as they worked tirelessly to keep themselves well in the game going into the second leg.

" Yeah, that was terrible. It’s nice to defend like that as a defender and to keep the clean sheet and go home with a point in the next game," added White.
