'Classic Bielsa' Leeds United fans react as Helder Costa omitted from starting XI at Bristol City

Leeds United fans have given a mixed reaction to Marcelo Bielsa's decision to leave marquee summer signing on the bench for the club's first match of the new Championship season at Bristol City.

Costa, who arrived from Wolves on an initial loan that will become a permanent move next summer, is a substitute for the trip to Ashton Gate, while fellow summer signing Ben White will start in defence for the Whites.

Kiko Casilla keeps his place in goal, while Stuart Dallas deputises for the injured Luke Ayling at right-back. Brighton loanee White plays alongside skipper Liam Cooper in central defence, with Barry Douglas at right-back.

A familiar central midfield trio of Kalvin Phillips, Adam Forshaw and Mateusz Klich is flanked by wide players Pablo Hernandez and Jack Harrison, who has returned on loan from Manchester City.

Patrick Bamford leads the line with Kemar Roofe out injured and expected to join Anderlecht next week.

That means Costa starts on the bench, alongside Jack Clarke, Mateusz Bogusz, Leif Davis, Gjanni Alioski and Robbie Gotts.

Leeds did the double over the Robins last season, with Patrick Bamford netting the winner at Ashton Gate back in March.

Leeds United: Casilla, Dallas, Cooper, White, Douglas, Phillips, Forshaw, Klich, Hernandez, Harrison, Bamford

Subs: Miazek, Davis, Alioski, Gotts, Bogusz, Clarke, Costa

Here's how fans have reacted to today's starting XI...
