Ben White delivers one-word verdict to describe what Martin Odegaard did for Arsenal vs Burnley

Arsenal defender Ben White has heaped praise on Martin Odegaard after the Norwegian scored the winner against Burnley on Saturday.

The Gunners clinched their first Premier League away win of the season, defeating Sean Dyche's men 1-0 thanks to a first-half free-kick from the former Real Madrid star.

After English starlet Bukayo Saka had been brought down on the edge of the area, Odegaard stepped up to take the resulting set-piece, delightfully curling the ball past a helpless Nick Pope in the 30th minute.

Mikel Arteta's side enjoyed the lion's share of possession but were unable to double their lead as Emile Smith Rowe failed to beat Pope with a tame effort from close range in the second half.

However, Burnley were awarded a penalty after Aaron Ramsdale was adjudged to have fouled Matej Vydra in the box following a sloppy pass from summer signing Ben White.

The penalty was eventually overturned after VAR ordered referee Anthony Taylor to take a closer look on the pitchside monitor as it was clear that the young 'keeper got a touch on the ball.

White claimed that the pitch had an impact on his mistake before taking time to heap praise on the aforementioned Odegaard goal, which he admitted he didn't properly see live.

“To be fair, I was in the wall so I didn’t see too much of it!” he told the club's website. “But it was obviously an amazing strike.”

The Englishman has now kept clean sheets in his last two outings for the Gunners, forming a solid partnership with Brazilian centre-back Gabriel, who produced an impressive display against the Clarets.

The 23-year-old pair will hope they can continue their fine vein of form into next week's highly-anticipated clash against local rivals Tottenham Hotspur, who travel to the Emirates Stadium on Sunday 26 September.
