Ben White backed to 'force himself' into Liverpool team if Reds complete transfer

Ben White would be able to "force himself" into the Liverpool first team claims his former Newport County boss Michael Flynn.

The young defender played 52 times for the Welsh side during his first loan spell away from Brighton.

But it was his efforts at Elland Road in Leeds' promotion campaign that caught the eye of the Premier League's big boys.

Liverpool are seeking to replace Dejan Lovren who left Anfield to join Zenit last month and White has been identified as a perfect replacement.

He would be up against Joe Gomez and Joel Matip but Flynn is confident that the 23-year-old would be able to forge his way into Jurgen Klopp's plans.

“I’d love to see him at Liverpool. I know Pep Lijnders, the assistant, he’s an unbelievable coach,” Flynn told  talkSPORT .

“So I know he will help Ben improve. He’s got to do what’s best for Ben White. That could be getting a season in the Premier League with regular games at Brighton, which I think he could do.

“[Brighton boss] Graham Potter might want to keep him and bring him on and then sell him for more money after a year in the Premier League.

“That’s a decision for Ben, but for biased reasons, I’d be edging him towards Liverpool.

“I’m that confident of Ben that I think he can force his way into any team. Let’s not forget, he’s going to have even better players around him, they’ll bring him on.

“Jurgen Klopp, as a manager, gets the best out of all his players. I can just see him improving again."

Leeds have had several bids rejected for White as they target a permanent deal for the central defender, but Brighton have so far stood firm.

The youngster has rebuffed the offer of a new contract down at the Amex.
