Ben Stirling reveals transfer motivation as youngster swaps Hibs for Hamilton Accies

Hibernian youngster Ben Stirling has joined Hamilton Accies on a permanent deal, the club has confirmed.

The 22-year-old failed to make a first team appearance after coming through the youth ranks at Easter Road and spent time out on loan with the likes of Arbroath and Alloa Athletic in the Scottish Championship.

He will link up with former Hibs teammate Scott Martin in Brian Rice's squad after they sealed a point at home to Dundee United on Saturday as he searches for regular first team action.

Stirling last appeared in a Hibs matchday squad in the defeat to Aberdeen last month, however could now line up against his former side when they meet at Easter Road in the Scottish Premiership on Friday evening.

He told the Hamilton Accies website: "“The amount of youth players this club brings through and develops is something I want to be a part of.

"When Brian Rice phoned me I knew this was the club where I want to develop and hopefully get my chance.

"Looking at Scott coming here, playing week in and week out, it gave me that extra incentive to make the move and follow in his footsteps and try to nail down a starting position in the first team.

"There is no better place to start. I just need to focus on impressing over the next couple of days and then hopefully I will be able to get some minutes.”
