Ben Simmons’ holdout just keeps getting uglier and uglier by the day. It shows no signs of slowing down.
The All-Star point forward made it clear he had no intentions of playing a game for the 76ers ever again despite their overtures to try and bring him back into the fold.
And now, they’ve reportedly gotten to the point where they’re actually withholding his salary and fining him for not showing up at all so far this season, reports ESPN’s Brian Windhorst and Tim Bontemps.
The 76ers have set aside $8.25 million of Ben Simmons’ salary in an escrow account. And as Simmons continues to miss key dates, the team will deduct money from the account for his fines.
Reporting with @WindhorstESPN and @BobbyMarks42: Sources confirm the 76ers have not paid Ben Simmons the $8.2 million he was owed today. The money has been put in an escrow account, & any fines accrued by him for not showing up will be deducted from that amount moving forward.

We’ve rarely ever seen a holdout get this bad. But we’re here with Simmons and the 76ers. And for Simmons, that’s a good thing.
