Ben Simmons felt ‘singled out’ during visit to Australian casino

While many, including themselves, have drawn the parallels between LeBron James and Ben Simmons on the basketball court, they also share a lot when it comes to how they carry themselves off the court. And even at a younger age, the 76ers guard known as “The Fresh Prince” has found it easier to use his words to speak out on situations he feels he must point out.

One of those situations came this past week in Australia as Simmons was attempting to enter a casino in his hometown of Melbourne with a couple of his friends. He shared those feelings of being singled out for what he saw as an unevenly applied policy to he and his friends, who all happened to be black, in an Instagram post which he later deleted. The casino later refuted Simmons’ claim that he and his friends were discriminated against.

Nevertheless, Simmons still believes in what he said even though he deleted the post.

Simmons, only 23, has been finding his voice more and more, especially when it comes to issues in his home country of Australia.
