Ben Shephard today wished Kate Garraway a happy birthday and gave an update on her husband’s condition.
The presenter spoke to his Good Morning Britain co-host Susanna Reid and to viewers about Derek Draper, who is still 'critically ill' with coronavirus.
Kate, who turns 53 today, has been offering fans updates on his condition since he tested positive for COVID-19.
In case the days are blurring into one - despite the ITV show’s panel line up, it’s not Friday, it’s Monday.
Piers Morgan is off today as he awaits the results of his coronavirus test.
Ben said: "I want to say happy birthday to Kate, who turns 40...13 today.
“She’s with her family, of course, keeping everything crossed because Derek is still critically ill.
“We just want to say happy birthday, Kate, however you can celebrate today. We’re sending you lots and lots of love.”
Susanna added: "Yes, huge love to you and your family, of course."
She also pointed out that Kate does not look a day over 25.
Ben quipped: "Not after a lot of makeup."
Derek, 52, was taken to hospital on March 30 before being rushed to intensive care days later.
Ben has been offering regular updates to viewers from Kate, who last Thursday praised the 'amazing' NHS as she thanked workers looking after her hubby.
She said on Instagram: “So much to be grateful for tonight. Derek is still with us but what a battle it is.
“So grateful too for our amazing NHS doing so much for Derek everyday - wonderful to see all the support for them and our key workers every Thursday. We can’t thank them enough can we? So brave.”
