Ben Osborn linked with 'surprise' transfer to Premier League side

Sheffield United have reportedly made an offer for Nottingham Forest's Ben Osborn.

According to The Sun, Osborn has been the subject of a 'surprise' offer for the 24-year-old.

Chris Wilder's side are strengthening their side following promotion to the Premier League last season.

So far they've signed Phil Jagielka from Everton on a free transfer, while Luke Freeman has joined for what is believed to be a club-record transfer fee of £5 million.

Osborn has made 230 career appearances for the Reds.

He has 16 goals and 31 assists to his name, with arguably his most famous strike the winner in the 2015 East Midlands Derby with Derby County at Pride Park.

He made 44 appearances last season, notching once and assisting six times.

Osborn featured sparingly as a left-back under former boss Aitor Karanka last season, before being used further forward by Martin O'Neill after he replaced the Spaniard.

Panagiotis Tachtsidis, Apostolos Vellios, El Arbi Hillel Soudani, Jorge Grant and Stephen Henderson have all left the City Ground this summer.
