Ben Osborn addresses his Sheffield United future amid tough first season

Ben Osborn insists he is not ready to walk away from his Premier League dream after a challenging start to his Sheffield United career.

The midfielder moved to the Blades over the summer from Nottingham Forest, but has been restricted to 12 appearances this season, with seven coming in the league.

Osborn says he is undeterred, although he admits to facing challenges when it came to adapting to life at a new club, with Enda Stevens and John Fleck keeping him on the sidelines.

"I found it tough mentally to get my head round," Osborn told Yorkshire Live.

"From playing week in, week out you crave that but you take a step back and look at the bigger picture and think 'if i was the gaffer would I change it? No, not the way they have been going, the lads have been great and the two lads in my position especially, Enda and Flecky, have been outstanding. It's been frustrating but I can totally understand it and it's been a learning curve.

"I signed thinking I would get a bit more game time than I thought but I maybe underestimated the quality of the players here and underestimated the consistency that they have but the way we are going it's exciting to be around.

"If we manage to get into Europe there will be loads more games next year and it's something you want to be a part of playing in Europe. At the moment, I can't see me leaving the club but it will have to be a conversation I have with the gaffer."

Osborn did feature in the FA Cup win at Reading last week, making five key passes and the most tackles in the game.

Nonetheless, he was back on the bench against Norwich on Saturday.
