Ben & Jerry's shares iconic cookie dough recipe - and you have to try it

Ben & Jerry's has released its iconic cookie dough recipe - and we have to admit we're obsessed.

Although there are countless flavours to choose from, like Baked Alaska and Chocolate Fudge Brownie, its Cookie Dough ice-cream takes top place.

While we all love the creamy goodness of Ben & Jerry's ice-cream, one thing we seem to adore more than anything is digging around for the cookie dough piece reports Daily Star.

Well now, the famous cookie dough recipe has been revealed so you can tame those cravings in a snap, without having to run to the corner shop.

To make their signature cookie dough balls, you need seven ingredients and it'll take less than 10 minutes to prepare - what's not to like about that?

You don't need a lot of ingredients either (Ben & Jerry's)

Ben & Jerry's Cookie Dough Pieces

Ingredients

  • 250g brown sugar
  • 250g flour
  • 125g chocolate chips
  • 8 tbsp. unsalted butter at room temperature
  • 2 tbsp. double cream
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • ½ tsp. salt

Method:

  1. Add your the flour to a bowl and microwave on a high heat to get rid of the bacteria. Ben & Jerry's state that they always do this as eggs and untreated flour have a higher likelihood of containing salmonella or E.coli
  2. Mix together the brown sugar and butter with an electric whisk until fluffy
  3. Add the cream, salt and vanilla an mix to combine
  4. Pop in the flour and continue to mix
  5. Throw in the chocolate chips – as many as you want
  6. Roll into balls – using your hands or a melon scoop
  7. Serve or store in the fridge for later - and voila you're finished

But if this isn't chocolatey enough to satisfy your sweet tooth you could also dip them in melted chocolate or pop them into a brownie tray bake to cook - the options are endless.

They also last up to seven days in the fridge or six months in the freezer.

Make a big batch and you'll be snacking on them for weeks to come - not that we're complaining.
