Ben & Jerry’s is giving away unlimited free ice cream all day today

Ben & Jerry’s will be giving away unlimited free ice cream all day today to celebrate its birthday. The annual ‘free cone day’ happens every year, with the worldwide ice cream giant letting fans loose on their favourite flavours.

The branch on Exchange Square will be taking part in the giveaway, and it’s promised that you’ll be able to go back as many times as you like for extra scoops. The company reckons that it will give away over one millions scoops of ice cream globally today, across 35 countries, and also partners with local nonprofit organisations.

It’s known for its famous flavours including Cherry Garcia, in tribute to Grateful Dead guitarist Jerry Garcia, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough. It’s also a dab hand at a pun-based marketing flavour, supporting former president Barack Obama with ‘Yes Pecan’ in 2008, and supporting same sex marriage in the UK by renaming ‘Oh! My! Apple Pie!’ as ‘Apple-y Ever After’ in 2012.
