Ben Godfrey sent police message and other Everton moments missed

Ben Godfrey Police Message

There were many plaudits for Ben Godfrey after the win over Arsenal on Saturday evening.

But perhaps the Everton defender would not have expected a message from Preston North End police.

An official Twitter account for the force posted: "Ben Godfrey runs home after training and every match.......and he still lives in Norwich!"

Some were left confused, as the profile usually provides away travel and safety information for Preston North End supporters.

One replied: "Is it just me who finds this account weird? Official verified police Twitter being used like some football bants page? (I know, I’m a bore for pointing it out)."

Preston North End police responded: "It’s a weird year mate just roll with it.......we’re all Everton aren’t we."

It turns out the account is run by PC Paul Elliott, a fanatic Everton supporter. Fair enough.

Mikel Arteta Hug

Following his media duties, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta would have been forgiven for making a hasty retreat to the team bus and asking the driver to get him back to London as quickly as possible.

But there was time for a nice moment on the turf at Goodison Park.

Arteta, who spent six years at Everton under David Moyes, spotted head groundsman Bob Lennon, and walked back across the pitch towards the Gwladys Street to give him a warm embrace.

A nice touch.

Abdoulaye Doucoure Confused

"An Other Big W on the Road," Abdoulaye Doucoure posted to his official Twitter account after the game on Saturday.

Errr, Abdoulaye....Everton were at home.

"[The game] was at Goodison but you’re boss," one supporter replied. That sums it up really, doesn't it?

Let's hope Doucoure knows he's back at home on Wednesday.

Hector Bellerin Impressed

Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin is obviously a fan of Goodison Park.

Before the game, as Arsenal inspected the pitch, Bellerin was spotted snapping away inside the stadium with a disposable camera.

It would be the last involvement the 25-year-old had on the turf, with Arteta holding him back as an unused substitute.

At least he has some nice photographs for his scrapbook.

Who and Who?

A guest contribution to finish us off.

Everton supporter Ray Rowles got in touch via Twitter to point out that Andy Hinchcliffe, on punditry before the game, mistakenly named Carlo Ancelotti's centre-back pairing "Meane and Kina."

I kind of like it. Mean and Keener sound like they could be a Roy of the Rovers feature.

And who cares what the two defenders are called on commentary, anyway? Because Michael Keane and Yerry Mina are in the form of the Everton careers. Long may it continue.
