Ben Godfrey close to £25m Everton transfer from Norwich City

Everton are closing in on the signing of defender Ben Godfrey.

The finer details of a deal to bring to 22-year-old to Goodison still need to be resolved but the Blues are now confident of securing his transfer.

Godfrey is expected to cost Everton around £25m.

The Norwich City defender has emerged as the club’s first-choice target and though the club had been looking at bolstering their defensive options with a loan signing, Godfrey’s availability forced them into a re-think.

Carlo Ancelotti described the England under-21 international as a “really good centre-back” following Wednesday night’s Carabao Cup won over West Ham United.

Fikayo Tomori and Jean-Clair Todibo have been the other two players on Everton’s shortlist in recent weeks but Everton are moving in on Godfrey.
