Ben Garner gives update on when Bristol Rovers will move to The Almondsbury Training Centre

Bristol Rovers are set to move into their new training base next month, Ben Garner has confirmed.

The pitches at The Almondsbury Training Centre will be ready for use from early October, with the Rovers boss set to decide a date to migrate the club’s training operation.

The Gas have been training at an undisclosed location following the expiration of their lease for The Lawns at Cribbs FC this summer, ahead of their move to their new home in Hortham Lane, Almondsbury.

“In terms of the pitches, we’re bang on schedule for where we thought we’d be,” Garner told Bristol Live. “The playing surfaces should be ready at the start of October.

“They’re great, everyone involved in that has done a fantastic job and now our groundstaff are there on a daily basis.

“That’s bang on target and the building for the gym and physio room is pretty much done, so we’ve just got a decision to make on the timing of moving there, and in terms of the permanent building for the offices and changing rooms and when that’s going to be ready or whether we’re allowed to utilise it because of the current regulations and guidelines.

“We have got an option of doing what we are currently, where we’re using marquees and temporary buildings at the current training ground we are using.

“We do have that option, it’s just a case of going there at the right time to get the full benefits of it. As I say, the pitches will be ready early October and it will be a case of picking the right day after that to move across fully.”
