Bristol Rovers boss Ben Garner believes the club a pulled off a transfer "coup" after the signing of Zain Westbrooke from Coventry City was confirmed on Monday.
The 23-year-old has agreed a three-year deal with the Gas and moves to the Mem for an undiclosed fee.
Westbrooke was part of Coventry's hugely impressive midfield as the Sky Blues were promoted from League One as champions.
As reported by Bristol Live, Garner's top priority has been to find a creative player to pull the strings in the heart of midfield.
The Gas boss believes the Brentford academy graduate will be a perfect fit.
"I am very happy that Zain has agreed to join us and feel it is a real coup for the football club," Garner told the club's website.
"Zain has the qualities we were looking for in his position especially in terms of vision, technical ability, and work ethic. He is also still at an age where he can progress and develop much further.
"Zain is joining us on the back of a very successful season at Coventry, where he played a key role in them winning the League One title.
"His style of play and ambition matches ours and I believe he will be an excellent addition to the squad.”
Westbrooke is arguably the most exciting addition of a scarcely believable summer for the Gas so far.
He becomes the Pirates' sixth summer signing, following Josh Grant, Jack Baldwin, Max Ehmer, Sam Nicholson and Jonah Ayunga to the Mem.
Westbrooke scored four goals in 22 League One starts for Mark Robins' table-topping Sky Blues last term, scoring four goals.
But with Robins strengthening his squad ahead of their crack at the Championship, Westbrooke had fallen down the pecking order.
Garner has sold him on his project at Rovers, and the 23-year-old is set to be a central figure in his team next season.
Rovers have confirmed Westbrooke will wear the number eight.
