Ben Foster targets Europa League spot as Watford look to brush off Man Utd defeat against Fulham

Ben Foster has warned his Watford team-mates they cannot let their impressive season trail off as they begin a potentially defining week.

Watford lost 2-1 at Manchester United on Saturday, as goals from Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial cancelled out a late strike by Abdoulaye Doucoure.

The Hornets must dust themselves down quickly, though, as they face Fulham at home tomorrow before taking on Wolves in the FA Cup semi-finals on Sunday at Wembley.

Victory over Fulham could see Watford jump to 7th in the Premier League, while at the weekend they have a chance of making a first FA Cup final since 1984, and Foster has urged his team-mates to not let their hard work so far go to waste.

“This is a really important time for us. We’ve had such a good season so far but we need to keep it going now,” he said.

“We want to finish in seventh or eighth so to do that we need to keep picking up points, starting with the game against Fulham.

“Hopefully we can get back to winning ways on Tuesday and then we’ll start thinking about the cup semi-final on Sunday.

“Sometimes I think we actually need to believe in ourselves a bit more. We have so many quality players here and I don’t think they understand that we’re a really, really good team.

“We were really good against United. We played some lovely stuff but probably just lacked that little bit of quality at the crunch time.”
