Ben Foster shares Roy Keane incident that left him 's**t scared' of Man Utd skipper

Ben Foster admits he was happy to see Roy Keane leave Manchester United because he was "s*** scared of him".

The Irishman was known for his brutal honesty as he attempted to keep standards high at Old Trafford.

And when Foster broke into the United first team he was on the receiving end of Keane's criticism.

“He’s a scary bloke. I was s*** scared of him. I rolled the ball out to him too slow apparently," he told the Peter Crouch podcast.

"He absolutely b****cked me. He stopped the ball, b****cked me, then turned around and carried on playing."

Foster made 23 appearances for United before moving to Birmingham in 2010.

He admits that he "wasn't ready" after he broke into the first team with Keane not the only person at United to let rip at him.

Manager Sir Alex Ferguson heavily criticised him in front of his team-mates after a high profile error in a Manchester derby.

“I started the season and did really well," he added. "Then I had a few shaky games. The one game which did it for me was the United v City derby. 4-3; the Michael Owen one.

"I remember coming in at full time and Sir Alex Ferguson nailed me. We’d just won the game, so everyone was buzzing. He shut everyone up to nail me.

"He said, ‘You pull this s *** ever again and that’s you f***ing done’.

“I wasn’t ready for Man United at the time. It was the wrong place at the wrong time for me – I just couldn’t deal with it.”

“Nobody could ever drop their standards ever. That’s what drove them to be the best.”
