Ben Foster calls on Watford fans to stick by team as wait for first Premier League goes on

Ben Foster has urged Watford supporters to keep the faith after fans voiced their frustrations during Saturday’s defeat to Chelsea.

Watford went down 2-1 to the Blues at Vicarage Road and they remain bottom of the Premier League and without a win.

At times during Saturday’s loss fans aired their grievances, in particular during the 75th minute when Quique Sanchez Flores subbed Daryl Janmaat for fellow right-back Kiko Femenia despite his side trailing 2-0 after goals from Tammy Abraham and Christian Pulisic.

In fairness to Flores, Watford fought back through Gerard Duelofeu’s penalty and were only denied a point after Kepa Arrizabalaga made a stunning save to keep out Foster’s last-minute header.

By that point, the Hornets fans were back onside and Foster has urged them to stick with the team as they head to fellow relegation battlers Norwich City this Friday.

“Just keep the faith. You’ve got to,” said the goalkeeper.

“There were a few times where you could sense the discontent [against Chelsea], they weren’t too happy with certain things.

“But then at other times when we got going and we really got a head of steam, the shouting and the crowd really sort of help, they do.

“It is so important that they stick together with us. We are sticking together, we will stick with them. Just keep coming and keep cheering, because it will turn. There’s no way it can’t turn. We are way too good to keep it going like this.”
