Ben Foden has begged his ex wife Una Healy for forgiveness after cheating on her during their six year marriage.
The rugby union player, 34, is hoping for a "fresh start" in his career after signing up to take part in Celebrity X Factor , which begins next week.
He admitted he's made the "biggest mistake" and the "most stupid mistake" by being unfaithful to the Saturdays singer, with whom he shares Aoife, seven, Tadhg, four.
Ben told The Sun: "I hope Una will forgive me.
"I made the biggest mistake and the most stupid mistake you can make in a relationship."
But Ben still maintains that his cheating wasn't the only thing that ended their marriage.
He said he would have to live with regret about his actions for the rest of his life.
The sportsman added: "We seemed like a perfect match but people never know what happens behind closed doors. I think it’s safe to say that Una and I were struggling for a number of years.
"Me doing what I did was the final nail in the coffin."
Ben left the world stunned after he married New Yorker Jackie Belanoff a month after meeting on Tinder.
Explaining the reason for the quick wedding, Ben said: "I met a girl who seriously swept me off my feet and in a time of hardship showed me love, a deep devoted love.
"People will say we are mad or crazy or even fools, as [Jackie] and I had only been dating seriously for a little over 2 weeks before deciding to get married. But when someone like her comes in to your life, why would I wait?"
Meanwhile, Una has moved on with rish sportsman David Breen.
She found love after bumping into her man in a coffee shop.
