Ben Dawson gives his view on Elias Sorensen's loan deal at Carlisle as Cumbrians start life under new boss

Ben Dawson believes that new Carlisle United boss Chris Beech can't have too many complaints about Elias Sorensen's attitude.

The Danish Under-21 striker was overlooked by recently sacked Carlisle boss Stephen Pressley who afforded the Toon youngster just one start during his season-long loan stint.

Sorensen missed Carlisle's last game due to illness as the Cumbrian side drew 0-0 with Cambridge United in League Two.

The youngster may now be considered for a place in the FA Cup squad for the second-round game at Forest Green this weekend.

Dawson told the Chronicle: "It is a difficult one for him.

"Ultimately he needs to try to get in their team (Carlisle).

"Sometimes showing a bit of will can send a message to the manager by showing he is prepared to play in those type of games.

"It's him saying: 'Look I am digging in here and working hard and want to play', so in that respect it's not a bad thing.

"We are obviously monitoring the situation closely.

"Shola Ameobi is speaking to Elias and Carlisle on a regular basis.

"We haven't got any major concerns at this point in time.

"We will meet next week as we always do with the loan manager to discuss not only him but also the other lads we have on loan."
