Ben Dawson and Federico Fernandez asked about Steve Bruce's appointment in aftermath of 4-0 hiding against Wolves

Ben Dawson says he will be handing over a fully fit squad to Steve Bruce when the new head coach arrives in Shanghai.

The caretaker boss oversaw and was asked his take on Bruce's arrival.

Bruce has signed a three-year deal and starts work immediately, when asked about the situation, Dawson said: "We have been out preparing for the tournament. I have not spoken to Steve Bruce. I am not sure on what the conversations have been with Lee Charnley."

"The positives are a lot of Academy lads got debuts.

"The new manager can also see he has a fit squad waiting for him in Shanghai."

Dawson was joined by Fede Fernandez in the Press conference.

When asked about the situation, the former Argentina international said: "A new manager is coming in now.

"We're looking forward to working with him - a man of great experience.

"We are thinking positively and looking forward to working with Steve Bruce."

"I understand the fans and the situation but for us we want to work and be better as a team.

"Of course the fans want a different manager or different players.

" As players we have to show up on the pitch that we are ready for the Premier League."
