Ben Chilwell sends Mason Mount Instagram message following Chelsea vs Norwich

Chelsea defender Ben Chilwell sent Mason Mount a message after the young midfielder netted a hattrick against Norwich City on Saturday afternoon.

Mount was instrumental for the Blues as they dominated Daniel Farke's side at Stamford Bridge, providing an assist whilst also finding the back of the net on three occasions to help his side stay top of the Premier League.

Left-back Chilwell also scored his third league goal of the season, an impressive feat considering he has only played 270 minutes in the English top-flight so far this term.

The former Leicester City ace took to social media to congratulate his compatriot whilst also joking that it took just one match for Mount to match the defender's goal tally for the 2021/22 league campaign.

"And just like that... he's caught up", Chilwell joked on his teammate's Instagram post.

After the full-time whistle, Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel lauded Mount's performance, citing his work ethic as a huge reason for the Englishman's hattrick.

"It's not about English players or foreign players", Tuchel said after the full-time whistle.

"It's about our players and we want to be dangerous. I am very pleased that the wing-backs arrived in the box and that we had the freedom and consistently have spirit to attack the box and spaces around it and to score goals. "

"It is important that we bring bodies at the end of our attacks to make things easier. A hat-trick for Mason is huge because it's huge.

"He's very proud and puts a lot of pressure on himself. I feel him a bit lighter and playing with more freedom in the last matches. This is what we need.

"There are a lot of games – and more for him – at a young age. He is very competitive and serious about reaching his goals. So, as I said, I feel him lighter now and it means a lot to him to have a hat-trick under his belt. And he is an academy boy."
