Ben Chilwell's FIFA 20 rating explored after completing £50m Chelsea transfer

After being earmarked as a key target for Frank Lampard this summer, Chelsea have wrapped up the signing of England international full-back Ben Chilwell, who has joined from Leicester City for a fee of around £50 million.

The 23-year-old has signed a five-year deal at Stamford Bridge and will compete with the likes of Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmieri at left-back heading into the 2020/21 campaign. Both Alonso and Emerson flattered to deceive for the Blues last season, which led to Lampard wanting Chilwell this summer.

Having already signed Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner and Ben Chilwell, Chelsea have significantly strengthened their squad ahead of next season and they are still being heavily linked with a number of high-profile players before the window closes.

So, how does Chilwell's FIFA 20 rating compare to his new Chelsea teammates? We explored his FIFA 20 rating to find out.

Ben Chilwell's FIFA 20 rating

Overall rating: 81/100

Potential rating: 85/100

Best attributes: Stamina (88), jumping (82), sliding tackle (82), ball control (81), reactions (80), standing tackle (80), acceleration (79), defensive awareness (79), sprint speed (78), crossing (78), interceptions (78), dribbling (78).

Weak Foot: Three stars

Skill Moves: Three stars

Positions: LB

Age: 23

Chilwell ranks well against both Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmieri on FIFA 20, with the 23-year-old rated the same as the Spaniard (81) and significantly better than Emerson (78).

The England international far exceeds both players in terms of defensive attributes and is significantly better than Alonso in terms of movement attributes, showcasing his strong athletic ability.

Interestingly, Alonso still has the upper hand in terms of technical attributes, with the Spaniard having higher passing, crossing and short passing.

However, Chilwell's potential rating of 85 out of 100 suggests that the 23-year-old can far exceed both players in terms of overall ability. In fact, FIFA 20 suggests that if Chilwell reaches his potential at the club, he could become almost as good as world class full-backs like Jordi Alba (86) and Andy Robertson (86).

Ben Chilwell's FIFA 20 rating suggests that Chelsea have got themselves a very talented young full-back with a significant amount of potential, who could become a key player for the Blues for many years to come. But with FIFA 21 due out in October, his rating could yet increase even further after joining Chelsea.
