After briefly facing a spell on the sidelines under Thomas Tuchel, Ben Chilwell has quickly established himself as one of the first names on the German manager's team-sheet as Chelsea prepare for the most crucial phase of their season.
Tuchel's side managed to dispatch of closest top-four rivals West Ham relatively unscathed, though Chilwell's calf may boast a nasty gash after being caught by West Ham defender Fabian Balbuena's follow-through.
The 1-0 win over the Hammers meant Chelsea leapfrogged their rivals into the highly-coveted fourth spot, ahead of a huge run of fixtures which sees them take on Real Madrid twice, local rivals Fulham and league leaders Manchester City in the space of a week and a half.
However, according to defender Ben Chilwell - it is this exact kind of fixture run-in that inspired his decision to swap Leicester for west London.
Speaking to talkSPORT, Chilwell said: "This is the reason I came to Chelsea. You want to be playing in so-called cup finals every week when you’re challenging for the top four.
"We’ve got Real Madrid on Tuesday, which is stuff as a kid you dream about and we’ve got a cup final.
"It’s a reason I came to Chelsea and we’re excited. Every week is going to be an important game when we are challenging for silverware and top four.
"The Euros on top of that as well, we’re hoping to capitalise on that."
Chilwell also discussed how vital coming away from the London Stadium with three points was for their push for Champions League qualification next year, stating: "(It was) massive. Both teams are fighting for top four.
"We’re roughly on the same number of points, so we knew whoever won would have a good chance of getting in the top four.
"Thankfully we won and we knew before the game the importance of it. The clean sheet is massive and to get the goal we were happy for Timo (Werner)."
