Ben Chilwell reveals Ashley Cole advice for becoming a Chelsea FC success story

Ben Chilwell set up a meeting with Ashley Cole since joining Chelsea to seek advice on how to emulate his success at Stamford Bridge.

Chilwell joined for £40million over the summer and the left-back has revealed he has spoken to England and Chelsea legend Cole at length since his move from Leicester.

Cole won the Champions League, the Premier League, four FA Cups, the Europa League and the League Cup during eight years at Chelsea.

And Chilwell said: “As well as talking to the manager, a big factor for me coming here was speaking to Ashley Cole when I came here and seeing the career he had. Obviously I want to emulate that.

“To have someone like that, who has played for Chelsea and is English, it was important for me.

"I spoke to my agent because I was quite keen on getting to meet him so I could get to know him, and pick his brains on what he thought of Chelsea and how he reached the success he reached here.

"I was keen to have that chat to find out stuff like that.

“I am going to work as hard as I can over however many years I have here to try and emulate what he has done here.

“He just said work hard. I know it sounds pretty cliché, but he said the fans here love players who want to work hard, die for the badge and put everything into winning for the football club.

"He said when he first came here he wanted to win for the club and that he loved playing for Chelsea, and if took that on board then I should have a great career here."
