Ben Chilwell injury news as Chelsea fans spot what happened with Frank Lampard and Declan Rice

Here is your Chelsea morning digest on Wednesday, December 23.

Full extent of Chilwell's injury

Chelsea defender Ben Chilwell will be sidelined until at least the New Year after suffering an ankle injury in Monday night's win over West Ham United at Stamford Bridge.

Chilwell was replaced in the early stages of the London derby and according to The Telegraph, the England international will be missing for the remaining days of the calendar year.

Some good news is that the report suggests there is no break or signs of serious harm to the Blues' defender's ankle, but it is highly likely he suffered minor damage or severe bruising.

The former Leicester City man is set to miss Chelsea's upcoming fixtures against Arsenal, Aston Villa and Manchester City, the report claims.

Jorginho's performance analysed

Chelsea midfielder Jorginho is known for dictating the tempo and helping the play flow for Frank Lampard's side.

However, against West Ham on Monday, the Italian's main strength became a weakness for the Blues after a mistake from the 29-year-old.

Jorginho played a poor sideways pass that could only find the feet of Jarrod Bowen, which allowed the Hammers to attack at Stamford Bridge - something that clearly affected the midfielder.

The holding midfield player then gave away possession on a number of occasions after the mistake and David Moyes would have been pleased with how his side gained control of the centre of the pitch.

Chelsea fans plot Rice and Lampard moment

West Ham star Declan Rice has been heavily linked with a move to Chelsea in the January transfer window, and Blues supporters have noticed what happened between him and Frank Lampard on Monday evening.

After the game - that ended 3-0 to the hosts at Stamford Bridge - fans spotted Rice shaking Lampard's hand on the pitch.

Whilst this might mean nothing, some fans have interpreted it as a sign of things to come - with the Blues being linked with a big-money move for the England international.

@JamieRoche7 tweeted: The man just wants to get a good relationship with Lampard ahead of his move.
