Chelsea defender Ben Chilwell believes he and Trent Alexander-Arnold can 'model the game for the next generation' at full-back.
The Liverpool defender has become one of the best in his position across world football despite being only 22-years-old.
Alexander-Arnold has registered 25 Premier League assists in the last two seasons as the Reds have amassed 196 points.
Chilwell, who is also regarded for his attacking quality after making a £50million switch from Leicester City to Chelsea in the summer, believes he and Alexander-Arnold can play a role role in what is expected from a modern-day defender.
“It’s been redefined loads over the last 10 years,” Chilwell told The Guardian.
“It’s probably going to keep progressing. Trent, myself and other younger players will hopefully be in the game for the next 10 years and if we model the game for the next generation then that’s a positive.
“Fifteen years ago it was more about the full-back staying back.
“Over the last five or 10 years, full-backs have become a massive part of a team, getting forward and creating chances.”
