Bemused shoppers mock revealing ASOS bikini which looks like it's on backwards

By now, we all know that when it comes to swim wear, there are some rather interesting and unexpected trends out there.

Most recently, we saw the rise of the underboob bikini, which has become a favourite of many Instagram influencers, and as the name suggests, sees the underneath of a woman's breast exposed by means of cut-out areas and oddly-placed straps.

But at this moment in time, there's one particular swimming costume that's taken the internet by storm and has people talking - and not for a particularly good reason.

ASOS are being mocked on social media for selling a bizarre buckle bikini top which leaves VERY little to the imagination.

It leaves very little to the imagination (ASOS)

Called the Buckle Micro Bikini Top, the deep red garment costs just £9 and you'd have to be feeling pretty brave to wear it in public.

The top is so tiny, that many people on Instagram were concerned about experiencing a wardrobe malfunction.

Though those who feared exposing themselves while jumping in the pool shouldn't worry too much, as it turns out there's one other flaw with the product - it can't be immersed in water according to the care instructions on the retailer's website.

So you'll just have to settle for wearing it by the side of the pool if you want to buy it.

People joked it was ideal for breastfeeding (ASOS)

An image of the bikini top was shared by the spoof Instagram account @asbos_sos, who captioned the post: "When u get dressed still drunk."

More than 1,500 people liked the photo and many have taken the time to comment on it, poking fun at the top.

One joked that at leas it was "breast feeding friendly".

Another thought it looked like it was on backwards: "When you're half asleep and put your bra on back to front."

A third wrote: "OMG."

"It's most definitely a 'look'," added a fourth user.

Someone else asked: "Honestly what the f*** is this?"
