Beloved Police Scotland dog Buck passes away after short battle with cancer

A popular Scots police dog has sadly passed away.

Devastated officers at Dumfries and Galloway today shared the tragic news that Buck the German Shepard had died following a short battle with cancer.

The pup was diagnosed with terminal cancer back in August and had been living with his handler PC Stewart Rae.

He shot to fame across Scotland after he and PC Rae miming their way through George Ezra hit Shotgun from a dashboard camera back in July 2018.

Police Scotland posted on Facebook: "Sad news from us this today as we can now tell you police dog Buck has passed away this afternoon after a short illness.

"We know Buck and his handler Stewart are super popular across the region and our thoughts are with Stewart and his family at this time."

Tributes have since been paid to the "beautiful dog" by mourners after his stellar career helping catch bad guys.

Diane Veall said: “Over the rainbow Bridge sweet boy. A short but perfect life.”

While Carys Christie commented: “ Beautiful big pup....stand down PD Buck - thank you”.

And Dawn Fleming wrote: “So sad for all who knew and loved him. Such a brave and clever big boy. Rest easy Buck.”
