Beloved Irish singer Allie Sherlock responds to complaints about tip card reader set at €3

Irish singer Allie Sherlock has responded to people who launched complaints about her tip card reader being set at €3.

Allie has a card reader set up so that people can 'tip' digitally, allowing people to show their appreciation even if they don't have any cash on them.

After a video of her performing was posted on the social media platform TikTok, some people decided to complain, saying that €3 was too much to ask of people and that it should be set to a lower amount, Cork Beo reports.

The teenager is a very popular act on the streets of Cork and Dublin and often has a band to back her up when she is out busking.

And she says that she doesn't even take the tips herself: "Everyone is complaining that €3 is too much to ask for.

"I don't take any of the money. I give all the tips to the band.

"No one is being forced to tip," added the Douglas girl.

Many users backed the young Cork sensation after her response, with one commenting, "The arts won't survive if we can't pay artists. Three euro really isn't a lot for a whole band."

Another commented: "Everyone saying €3 is too much but..lads if you can’t afford to tip €3 just keep walking."

Allie rose to fame back in 2017 when a rendition of Supermarket Flowers by Ed Sheeran went viral and landed her on the Ellen DeGeneres show in the US.

She is now signed to a record deal with One Republic's Ryan Tedder with continued success expected for her in the future.
