Beloved hotel abandoned after closing suddenly - now squatters may be living inside

An urban explorer has shared the results after visiting a hotel closed in 2020 which once hosted weddings and other happy events.

Park Hall Hotel in Chorley, Lancashire, has been empty since its closure after plans for it to be repurposed as a holding place for people awaiting asylum only fell through.

Several events and functions, including weddings, were cancelled without warning when it suddenly shut its doors, with its workers losing their jobs.

Now, three years on, TikToker Tattooedexplorer paid it a visit.

The video shows the explorer moving through the grounds before finding an open door, giving him access to the empty hotel. He then goes on to try a few room doors which turn out to be locked.

The video goes on to show a room which contains an unmade sofa bed, which the creator claims is a sign of people living there, Lancashire Live reported.

The rest of the video shows the abandoned wedding venue, complete with a stocked bar as well as a former games room which contained a giant chess board.

The video, which has had nearly 500,000 views and hundreds of comments, ends mysteriously with a clip of a man approaching the explorer.

Tattooed Explorer said that half the building had 'collapsed', but some of the property still had power and working lights.

A number of TikTok users reminisced about weddings they had attended at the hall before it closed.

One user said: "Mad this is down the road from me and my friend got married here, sad to see it in this state."

Another added: "I went to a wedding here in 2020! can't believe how quickly it’s gone down hill!"

Recently, it was announced the hotel had been bought by hotel group Brilliant Hotels, who plan to give the accommodation a new lease of life.

While there is no official opening date, the group has started advertising for key positions, such as a general manager, night porter, and receptionist.

Managing director of Brilliant Hotels, Anoob Saban previously said: "Park Hall Hotel will be reopened under the ownership and management of Brilliant Hotels Group.

“The property is undergoing various fire, healthy and safety compliance checks and will decide the opening date."

Earlier this month we shared chilling images of an abandoned slaughterhouse which shut following fines for breaching food regulations.

The images show multiple machines for slaughtering chickens, a canteen area crumbling down and a haunting key box with labels such as 'vets room' and 'cat pump'.

The slaughterhouse in Bradford was owned by the Iqbal Brothers and was forced to close in 2011 after breaching food regulation standards.
