A 'beautiful' mum and grandma who was tragically killed in an ambulance crash earlier this month has been named by police as loved ones pay tribute.
Christina Lafferty passed away just days after she was involved in the smash on February 1 as she was being transported to hospital.
The accident occurred when the ambulance she was travelling in collided with a blue Mercedes on Sheffield Road in Doncaster, with the 70-year-old sustaining a number of additional injuries, Yorkshire Live reports.
Despite doctor's best efforts to save her, Ms Lafferty sadly died three days later on February 4, South Yorkshire Police confirmed.
Since the accident, her family have publicly shared a photo of the much loved mum and grandma, while also paying tribute to her in their own words.
They said: “Our mum was a fun loving, beautiful and a generous lady who was loved by anyone who knew her. We are devastated that she was taken so tragically.
“She leaves behind her loving partner Ken, her two children Rachel and David and five grandchildren, who loved, admired and cared for her deeply.”
Officers at South Yorkshire Police have shared their condolences and asked that the family's privacy be respected at this difficult time.
Investigations into the accident are still ongoing however, with officers still keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or has dash cam footage that could help with their enquiries.
If you can help please call 101 quoting incident number 273 of 1 February. You can send dash cam footage to enquiries@southyorks.pnn.police.uk.
