Beloved Content Creator Outdoor Boys Is Quitting YouTube & IDK What I’m Gonna Watch At 3AM

Beloved YouTuber and everyone’s doomscrolling friend, Luke Nichols, who posts under Outdoor Boys, has announced that he will be stepping back from making content to protect his privacy and spend more time with his family.

If you’ve ever stayed up super late on TikTok, you might’ve come across a tall, wholesome, American bloke building log cabins, talking about honey butter and survival with a beaming smile on his face.

If you haven’t, well, let me introduce you to Luke Nichols, famously known as Outdoor Boys. While I definitely have my reservations about family vloggers, let me assure you, Luke does not fall into that category.

Outdoor Boys is a YouTube channel where Luke makes content surrounding family projects, adventures, travel, forging, camping, campfire cooking, fossil hunting, magnet fishing, metal detecting and all the fun jazz. And as an indoor baddie, I live through his CONTENT!

Over the last couple of months, the Outdoor Boys channel has seen a surge in popularity, with the account boasting more than 15 million subscribers at the time of writing.

But unfortunately, it appears that all the wholesome, late-night content will come to a halt with Luke officially announcing a break from the channel.

In a YouTube video titled “Goodbye“, Luke admitted that “good things can be taken too far” when it comes to online fame.

“Hey everyone, this is gonna be my last video for a little while,” he explained.

“The amount of time and energy that I’ve dedicated to making YouTube videos is hard to communicate. So many late nights, editing and packing and unpacking, camping with pneumonia, building log cabins while injured, but it’s been a tremendous adventure, and it’s allowed me to provide for my family while making wonderful memories with my wife and kids.

“But even good things can be taken too far, and I think I’m starting to reach that point. But I’m not just talking about the time and energy I spend making YouTube videos. I’m also talking about the attention it brings.”

The YouTuber went on to explain that the fame is becoming a bit too much for him and his family, especially with fans trying to approach them in real life.

“In addition to the 2.8 billion views on YouTube, the sheer volume of fans trying to contact me, trying to take pictures with me, or just trying to come up and talk to me in public could be a bit overwhelming at times,” he continued.

“My wife and I we both have real concerns about what this will do to our family if I keep growing my YouTube channel at this pace, and the time to stop is before this problem gets so out of hand that my family and I can’t live normal lives.”

Luke then adds that “there’s more than one reason” behind why he’s taking a break, but he mainly wants to focus on his kids, who also want to become YouTubers.

Towards the end of his goodbye, he issued a sweet message for the fans who’ve gained more than just entertainment from his videos.

“I know there’s some of you out there who’ve gotten more than just entertainment from my videos. If you feel my videos have helped you in some way, then go out and find someone you can help,” he said.

Honestly, it’s truly a bummer to see another golden YouTuber leave the community, but kudos to him for stepping away — especially if it’s affecting him and his family.

You will be missed, Outdoor Boys!
