HUNTER New England Health says it will start delivering the first COVID-19 vaccines from its Belmont hub on July 19.
Local Health District cief executive Michael DiRienzo said it would be able to deliver 20,000 vaccines a week.
"The district has been working hard to convert the former Bunnings site on the Pacific Highway into a mass vaccination clinic and we are well on track to start vaccinating when the doors open," he said.
"The site is really coming together and I want to thank everyone involved for their hard work to make this happen so quickly."
The warehouse will include waiting bays, medical areas, a pharmacy preparation area, storage and public amenities.
Up to 100 nurses and 25 pharmacists or pharmacist technicians will be working on site, plus around 200 other support staff.
Hunter New England Health said those booked for John Hunter vaccinations from July 19 and beyond will have their appointments relocated to the 393 Pacific Highway hub.
More to come.
