A belly-busting pizza burrito has launched at a Manchester restaurant.
The new creation dubbed the ‘Doughrito’ combines a classic pizza but with a twist - quite literally.
The eatery, called American Pies, opened in 2021 and has now launched the unique dish, which consists of a doughy pizza base, packed with fillings and wrapped into a burrito, the Manchester Evening News reports.
It can be served with "all manner of combinations", including fried chicken, mozzarella cheese and spicy jalapenos.
The dish comes with a choice of dipping sauces, and can go alongside a number of sides including deep fried garlic knots, tater tots and goats cheese bonbons, for those with big appetites.
American Pies launched in March this year and has been branded as serving the "ultimate comfort food".
One reviewer said: “First time this evening, oh my goodness. Service was first class and friendly, the outdoor terrace was really nice.
“The food, well it’s food porn for foodies, and loads of it! We had both sharers between four of us, the OG and the Salt n Pepper tray, all superb but the burgers were absolutely spot on.”
Another commented: “Visited on a trip to Manchester to sample Chicago-style deep dish pizzas.
“We’ve never had them before so can’t say with any authority whether they were authentic- but I can confirm that they were absolutely delicious.
“Buttery, parmesan crust filled with tasty tomato sauce and plenty of cheese. The restaurant is small and was full when we went so I’d definitely advise booking!”
A third added: “Quite simply, one of the greatest eating experiences I have ever had from the moment I entered till the moment I left.
“Side note, if the staff tell you ‘that’s a lot of food, you might struggle with it all’ it will be a hell of a lot of food and you may explode trying to eat it all as you won’t want to leave any behind... it is that damn good!”
