Consistent mare Surrounding might foil Skitter Scatter, on her return to action, in the Group 3 Coolmore Stud Fairy Bridge Stakes in Tipperary tonight.
Skitter Scatter, winner of the Group 1 Moyglare last September and boasting a rating of 114, hasn’t been seen since disappointing on her first run for John Oxx in the Qipco 1,000 Guineas back in May.
She sustained a muscle tear that day and has been nursed back to health, running in tonight’s feature as a stepping-stone to the Group 1 Matron Stakes at Leopardstown.
But she has plenty to prove here and might not cope with Michael Halford’s teak-tough six-year-old Surrounding, already a four-time stakes winner, including the Group 3 Brownstown Stakes at Fairyhouse.
Meanwhile, Bellewstown stages its last meeting of 2019.
At a short price, Dermot Weld’s Days Without End, runner-up to Diamond Hill at Galway last time, is napped to open his hurdling account in the Wintergrass Maiden Hurdle, champion jockey Paul Townend’s only mount of the day.
