Bellerin, Ozil, Tierney - Latest Arsenal injury news and expected return dates ahead of Watford

We're halfway through the international break and for Arsenal it's time for a much needed breather.

Unai Emery's side have made a decent start to the Premier League season with seven points from four games, but with several stars suffering with injury complaints it's an ideal time to nurse them back to fitness.

The Gunners take on Watford in eight days time and Emery will no doubt be hoping to have as many of his players available for selection as possible.

Of course, many are away on international duty but for the others it's an ideal time to make a case for themselves.

Here's the latest injury news from London Colney.

Joe Willock

The youngster has withdrawn from the England U21 squad due to inflammation of the calf. He was included on the bench for the north London derby on Sunday, but it has been agreed between both the FA and Arsenal that it would be best for him to rest over the international break.

The injury is not thought to be serious and the midfielder will be looking to add to his three Premier League this season when Arsenal travel to Watford on September 15th.

Mesut Ozil

He missed the game against Burnley after being ill in the week leading up to the match. The German had been back in full training with his teammates following security concerns that caused him to miss the season opener vs Newcastle, he made his first appearance in the match day squad in yesterday's North London Derby, although he is yet to play a minute of football this season.

Alexandre Lacazette

Limped from the field in the second half against Tottenham in what would have been a worrying sight for Gunners' fans. It was initially thought that the Frenchman had suffered a hamstring injury, but as revealed by football.london, further assessment has shown that the forward was struggling with cramp.

The news will come as a big relief to Unai Emery as the player should be available as normal for the match against Watford after the international break.

Hector Bellerin

Is progressing well in his recovery from a cruciate knee injury. The club confirmed that the player will be hoping to be back in training this month, the international break will give the full-back a perfect opportunity to return to full fitness.

Kieran Tierney

The defender is yet to make an appearance in an Arsenal shirt, but is ahead of schedule in his recovery from complications following a double hernia operation. As with Bellerin, the player should be back in full training this month, and could use the international break to step up his recovery.

Rob Holding

Is set for a return to the first team after the international break. He has been back in training with the club's U23s as part of his rehabilitation from a knee injury. The defender has played the full 90 minutes for the club's development side

Asked whether he could be fit ahead of the North London Derby, Emery said: "He's training with us and playing with U23s. He's not 100 per cent for Sunday with us."

Konstantinos Mavropanos

Has struggled with injuries during his brief spell at Arsenal.

A groin strain kept the Greek defender out for much of the 2018/19 season and while he returned towards the end of the campaign, a further groin injury hampered his progress further during pre-season.

He has not featured yet this season, but is expected to return to full training later this month.
