Bellator MMA star Cris Cyborg reiterates desire for Katie Taylor super-fight

Bellator champion Cris Cyborg has reiterates her desire to fight Katie Taylor in the boxing ring.

The MMA star has long been a fan of Taylor, and fans have speculated that the two could come to blows in a crossover showdown.

However, despite Taylor also expressing interest in the fight, it seems that it's Cyborg who would have to make the crossover as opposed to Taylor stepping into a cage.

Speaking after her Bellator 259 win over Leslie Smith last weekend, the featherweight champ claimed that the two could well face-off next year.

"Scott Coker said maybe we do one boxing fight and one MMA fight," Cyborg told Sky Sports.

"I don't have a problem with that. If I have time to train for boxing, I will have no problem. I love challenges. Boxing is one of my dreams.

"I know Taylor is skilled, I know how good she is. I have nothing to lose.

"For a boxing fight I would need time to focus just on boxing. So I don't think it will be this year because I have a lot of MMA fights.

"Next year? Maybe."

Bellator supremo Scott Coker has previously stated that he'd love to see the fight go down, but has also opened up on his desire to see the Bray boxer make the move to MMA for a fight.

Coker said: "Why does it always have to be the MMA fighter going to become a boxer? Why can't it be the other way around?

"In saying that, if Cyborg really wants to fight her, she wants to go to boxing and win a title? She wants to fight Katie? We would step aside and let them get it on.

"We aren't going to be the ones to stop this fight from happening."

It comes after it was announced that Taylor will feature in tomorrow's Late Late Show season finale.

Taylor will sit down with host Ryan Tubridy in her first in-depth interview on the show since turning professional five years ago.
