Bellator chief Scott Coker declares Ryan Bader ‘best heavyweight fighter on the planet’

Bellator president Scott Coker always weighs in at the perfect times.

Not long after Stipe Miocic’s fourth-round finish of Daniel Cormier at UFC 241, to regain the UFC heavyweight title, Coker had an opinion he felt like sharing.

He went to bat for dual Bellator light heavyweight and heavyweight champion Ryan Bader (via Twitter).

.@RyanBader is the best heavyweight fighter on the planet.

Miocic’s big win sparked up the greatest heavyweight debate, and Coker believes it’s currently Bader (27-5 MMA, 5-0 BMMA). After all, Bader is coming off a win over Fedor Emelianenko, who many regard as the heavyweight GOAT. He knocked out Emelianenko in under a minute at Bellator 214, winning the heavyweight grand prix.

Since moving up to heavyweight, Bader has taken out Muhammad Lawal, Matt Mitrione and “The Last Emperor” en route to becoming a Bellator champ-champ. He is set to make his first title defense at heavyweight, when he takes on Cheick Kongo at Bellator 226 on Sept. 7.
