Bellator 227 faceoff video: Michael Page acts uninterested, then blows up on Richard Kiely

The heat is definitely on between Michael Page and Richard Kiely.

On Tuesday, Page (14-1 MMA, 10-1 BMMA) and Kiely (3-1 MMA, 1-0 BMMA) found themselves in each other’s presence for the first time at a news conference in Dublin ahead of their Bellator 227 co-headliner. The two men spent the majority of 14 minutes jawing back and forth at each other while Bellator executive David Green sat stuck in the middle.

The end of the news conference brought about fighter faceoffs. When it was Page and Kiely’s turn, “Venom” walked across the dais appearing uninterested as he was busy on his phone. Page didn’t even bother to look up, prompting Kiely to flash a thumbs-up across his face and then position himself in front of his opponent. That’s when Page, still looking down at his phone, patted Kiely on the shoulder. At that moment, Kiely turned around to face Page, who finally looked up and blew up on Kiely with a hard shove. A handful of men in suits quickly rushed in before things got out of control.

You can watch the entire scene unfold in the video above.

At Bellator 227, Page will look to rebound from his first loss after being knocked out by Douglas Lima in May in the welterweight grand prix semifinals. Kiely, meanwhile, is coming off a first-round knockout of Mickael Bucher in his Bellator debut back in February.

Bellator 227 takes place Sept. 28 at 3Arena in Dublin and is headlined by Benson Henderson vs. Myles Jury. That same night, the Bellator Europe 4 portion of the card is headlined by James Gallagher vs. Kal Ellenor.
