We hate when it happens, but it’s almost inevitable that something will go wrong while traveling.
Whether it’s a hotel that accidentally throws away all your possessions, or simply an Airbnb that doesn’t meet your expectations, these little surprises are pretty standard, no matter how much you plan.
At the end of the day, however, it’s not about what happens. It’s about how you and your host respond to the incident. Now, a user on TikTok has sparked discussion after claiming that something strange happened in her hotel. According to commenters, the hotel didn’t do enough about it.
What Went Wrong During This Hotel Stay?
In a video with over 77,000 views, TikToker @kelllmarie shows herself and her partner in the bathroom of a hotel room. According to her, there is no water available in the entire wing of the hotel.
“We’re staying at the Venetian, and there’s no…running water,” she starts. “So, we’re using bottled water to brush our teeth.”
She continues by saying that she was told the water would be back by 5am. However, this did not end up being the case.
In follow-up videos, she says that the lack of water lasted over 7 hours. During this time, she says they were given a key card to shower in a room in another wing. That said, they did not move to this room, as their original room was nicer.
How Did The Hotel Respond?
According to the TikToker, the Venetian Resort in Las Vegas did, by her estimation, everything they could to make the best out of the experience.
Not only did they continually deliver bottled water, but the TikToker says the hotel took $200 off the total price of their stay. Additionally, she says that she and her partner were allowed to take whatever they wanted out of the minibar free of charge.
“All in all, they handled it really well, and we will definitely be back,” the TikToker says. “They were very accommodating during the entire thing. Like, no complaints … The staff were nice the entire time. Like, not once did they have, like, attitude or seem annoyed.”
What Happened That Made The Water Go Out?
According to several local reports, the lack of water in part of the hotel could be attributed to a water main break.
While the service was returned just a few hours later, many who saw this video wondered what a guest may be entitled to in this situation.
In short, there are not a lot of legal protections covering brief gaps in water, as the TikToker explained.
Sometimes, hotels with water issues will offer no compensation at all. Other times, a hotel will offer a partial or full refund of the impacted nights, though actually getting it may take a little work.

Could She Have Gotten More?
In the comments section, users insisted that the hotel was not doing enough to compensate for the brief lack of water.
“Girl ask for a general manager at checkout, you absolutely deserve a full refund,” wrote a user.
“Don’t let them charge that resort fee,” declared another.
“Bellagio comped my entire trip because of a weird sound coming from the plumbing. Literally wasn’t even complaining I was just letting them know,” shared a third.
That said, the TikToker doesn’t seem too bothered and appears happy with what she got.
“I mean, [expletive] happens,” she said in a video. “It wasn’t the end of the world.”
